Smart ring warranty and return policies, compared

Warranties side by side

If you're buying a ring to own rather than to rent, the warranty is part of the total cost of ownership. Here is what each brand's own pages say, checked September 19, 2026. Where we couldn't find a term, the table says so rather than guessing.

The headline number is the same everywhere: one year in the US. So the useful comparison is further down the page, in how each brand treats the battery and what extra coverage you can buy. For the rest of the ownership math, see our three-year cost breakdown and the no-subscription hub.

The battery fine print

Warranties cover defects in materials and workmanship. Ordinary battery wear isn't a defect in any brand's terms that we read, and on a ring the battery is sealed in.

• Oura excludes batteries from its one-year warranty, and we found no battery replacement program described. Its safety page says the ring has “a rechargeable, non-replaceable” lithium polymer battery of 15 to 22 mAh depending on size (Oura).
• RingConn says its batteries are “sealed inside the device and are not designed for user replacement” and excludes normal capacity loss. A genuine defect in the warranty period may still qualify, and RingConn runs a trade-in program for eligible devices.
• Ultrahuman says, for the Ring AIR (not sold in the US), that battery replacements beyond warranty aren't covered, and quotes about 500 charge cycles with “a gradual reduction in battery life” expected after 1 to 2 years. It's the only aging figure any brand published that we found.
• Samsung: we found no battery policy for the Galaxy Ring. After one reported swelling case, Samsung told Android Police the cause was a crack in the ring's internal molding, said there was “no wider product battery safety risk,” and said owners with poor battery life or performance should contact its customer support (Android Police).
• Circular: no battery terms found beyond the one-year warranty.

Why this matters: Android Authority reported that Oura's pre-IPO filing showed an “$84.4 million increase in warranty expenses during fiscal 2025” tied to Ring 4 battery problems. When battery trouble is big enough to show up in a company's accounts, the battery clause is the part of the warranty worth reading. Optional protection plans

Three brands sell extra coverage. What each covers differs, and the details we could confirm are uneven.

• RingConn Product Protection (2 or 3 years). Covers Gen 3, Gen 2 and Gen 2 Air, is US only, and must be bought at checkout. RingConn says “The battery is included as part of the overall device” (RingConn Support), which makes it the only plan we found that explicitly includes the battery. Price: Data unavailable from the page we checked.
• Oura protection plans. $45 for two years or $60 for three, listed on Oura's ring store. We couldn't confirm what they cover, including whether battery wear is in, so ask Oura before you add one.
• UltrahumanX. Optional, “Starting at $36/year,” in 1- and 2-year plans, covering accidental damage and one Ring PRO replacement (Ultrahuman).

We found no optional plan for the Galaxy Ring or Circular Ring 2 on the pages we checked.

Returns: brand store vs Amazon

Return windows were the hardest terms to pin down. Here's what we could confirm:

• Circular offers a “14-day return no questions asked.” Its help page adds that you may return a “fully functional and undamaged” product “for any reason within 14 days of receipt of your ring for a full refund,” but “Outer-shells and sizing kits are consumables that are not refundable” (Circular).
• Ultrahuman's US Terms of Sale name 30-day returns for Ring AIR and Rare but don't state a window for Ring PRO. Its free Ring PRO sizing kit is “Yours to keep and share” with “no returns required.”
• Oura, RingConn and Samsung: we didn't verify their brand-store return windows. Read the store's return policy at checkout.

Buying on Amazon. When you buy a ring on Amazon, the return terms are the ones shown on that listing and at checkout, not the brand store's. Check who the seller is and read the listing's return line before you order; we don't summarize Amazon's terms here because they're set per listing. The warranty is still the manufacturer's: Samsung's US-version listing names a one-year manufacturer warranty in its title.

Sizing is the biggest return risk, and every brand tries to head it off with a kit. RingConn ships Gen 3 only after you confirm your size with its kit; Samsung's Amazon listings are titled “Size First w/Sizing Kit”; Oura's Ring 5 sizing kit on Amazon is titled “Size Before You Buy.” Use the kit, and the return window becomes a backup rather than a plan. What to look for

For a buyer who plans to keep a ring for years, three warranty questions matter: does the battery get any coverage, can you extend coverage, and how easy is a fix if the size is wrong. On those terms, and with no subscription on top, these three rings have the strongest stated terms:

Circular Ring 2 has the clearest stated return window (14 days, no questions asked) and a one-year US warranty, but it's sold only from Circular's store and runs about half a size large. Before you buy: a warranty checklist

1. Note when the clock starts. Oura's warranty runs from the date of purchase; RingConn's and Ultrahuman's from delivery. Keep both dates.
2. Decide on extra coverage at checkout. RingConn's protection must be bought at checkout, so you can't add it later.
3. Keep the receipt and order number somewhere you'll find them in a year.
4. Size with the brand's kit before you order the ring, and keep the kit until the ring fits.
5. Know who sold it. On Amazon, the listing's return terms apply and the manufacturer handles the warranty. From a brand store, the brand handles both.
6. Check your region. RingConn gives two years in the EEA and Circular two in the EU; US buyers get one.

Warranty and return mistakes

• Assuming the battery is covered. Oura excludes batteries; RingConn excludes normal capacity loss.
• Skipping protection at checkout, then wanting it later. RingConn only sells it at checkout.
• Returning a ring that isn't in returnable shape. Circular's refund covers a “fully functional and undamaged” product within 14 days.
• Missing the shorter warranty on refurbished units. Oura gives refurbished rings 90 days, not a year.
• Buying your jewelry size. A wrong size is the return you can avoid with a free kit.
