How we make money

Affiliate disclosure

Short version: when you buy a ring or strap through one of our Amazon links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It never decides a score, a pick or the order of a list.

Amazon Associates

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Ring & Rest is a participant in the Amazon Associates program. When you click a “Check price on Amazon” button and buy something, Amazon may pay us a commission. The price you pay is the same whether or not you use our link, and the sale, shipping and returns are handled on Amazon's side, not ours.

Buy buttons on this site point to addresses that start with /go/. That's a simple redirect on our own domain. For Amazon, it adds our Associates tracking tag and sends you on to Amazon. We use it so a product's destination can be updated in one place (if a model is replaced, for example) without rewriting every page, and so we can count clicks in aggregate with Google Analytics. The redirect never adds a fee, and it only forwards you to the store named on the button.

Every earning link is marked rel="sponsored" for search engines.

The #ad label

Every buy button on the site has a small #ad note beneath it that links back to this page. The fee tables carry the same label wherever they include an Amazon link. An affiliate link is an affiliate link whether or not a price is showing, so the label is always there.

Prices

Prices come from the retailer and change often. We don't have a live, verified price feed connected yet, so rather than show a number that might be wrong, every button says “Check price on Amazon” and the price you see is the one Amazon shows you. When live prices are connected, each will carry an “as of” date, and any price that hasn't been refreshed within 48 hours will disappear rather than go stale.

Subscription fees are different: they are published brand policy, so we quote them with the date we checked them and compute multi-year totals from them. How that works is on the methodology page.

Commissions don't change the order

  • No brand pays for placement or reviews.
  • Scores come from the published rubric on our methodology page. The rubric doesn't know which links earn, and the order of every list follows the scores and the page's use case, not the commission.
  • We rank rings we earn nothing on when they're the right answer, and we say plainly when a ring isn't sold on Amazon at all.

Other programs and reference links

Right now, Amazon is the only retailer we earn from. We haven't joined any other affiliate network (such as CJ or Awin) or any ring brand's own affiliate program. If that changes, we'll list the program here, and the button will say which store you're going to.

Some products we cover aren't sold on Amazon.com. The Ultrahuman Ring PRO and the Circular Ring 2 are sold by their makers, and WHOOP sells its band with a membership. When we link to Ultrahuman, Circular or WHOOP, it's a plain reference link: no tracking tag, and we don't earn anything if you buy. Buy buttons for the two brand-store rings say so right under the button.
