Oura vs Ultrahuman: the fee, the battery and the wait

The verdict

On our rubric, the Ring PRO scores 6.9 and the Ring 5 scores 5.8. Ultrahuman wins cost of ownership and battery. Oura wins evidence and phone support, since Ultrahuman doesn't publish the Ring PRO's phone requirements. The decisive differences

Both rings are titanium and rated to 100 meters, and both brands offer a free sizing kit and call the ring HSA/FSA eligible. After that they split cleanly. Oura charges a fee and ships now. Ultrahuman charges nothing and ships later. Everything else on this page is detail around that trade.

The three-year math

Hardware prices change daily, so we link to them live instead of printing them. Fees are brand policy, so we multiply them out. We've added the RingConn Gen 3 as the Amazon-buyable no-fee reference point.

One thing the table can't show: Ultrahuman's Ring PRO listing includes the PRO Charging Case, and we found no way to buy the ring without it, while an Oura ring price is for the ring alone with no case. Where you can actually buy each

Oura announced the Ring 5 on May 28, 2026, and it's listed on Amazon.com in several finishes and sizes. The Ultrahuman Ring PRO is not on Amazon.com; the only Ring PRO listing we found there was its sizing kit. In the US you pre-order it from Ultrahuman's own store, which said “Shipping October 10th onwards” when we checked on September 19, 2026.

That date has moved before. Ultrahuman reopened US pre-orders on March 24, 2026. Athletech reported shipping was “set to begin May 15.” TechTimes reported the ring “began shipping worldwide on June 20, 2026.” Yahoo Tech reported on July 8 that shipments had been pushed to “August 10 onwards.” Now the US page says October 10. If you need a ring by a date that matters, that history is the most important fact on this page.

Buying from a brand store also means Ultrahuman's own terms apply instead of Amazon's return process. Ultrahuman's US terms of sale name 30-day returns for the Ring AIR and Rare, but we couldn't find a return window stated for the Ring PRO. Ask before you order. What happened to the Ring AIR

If you searched “Ultrahuman Ring AIR vs Oura Ring 4,” here's the short answer: the Ring AIR isn't sold in the US. In Oura's patent case, the US International Trade Commission issued a limited exclusion order on August 21, 2025 (investigation 337-TA-1398), and the Ring AIR was pulled from the US market. The Gadgeteer put it plainly: “Ultrahuman's Ring Air disappeared from Amazon and major U.S. retailers.”

Ultrahuman redesigned the ring as the Ring PRO. On March 6, 2026, US Customs and Border Protection ruled (H354023) that the redesigned ring “is not subject to exclusion from entry,” with entry conditioned on an approved certification (CBP). The same ruling notes that ITC determinations “will modify or revoke any contrary CBP ruling,” and Oura filed a separate suit against Ultrahuman in the Eastern District of Texas in 2025 over five more patents; we couldn't confirm where that case stands. The Ring PRO is legal to import today. We can't promise that won't change.

Old Ring AIR listings still turn up in Amazon search results, but the pages we fetched showed no price or stock, so we can't tell you whether they're live offers. We wouldn't build a US purchase around one. RingConn, sued in the same case, settled and took a license instead; Oura vs RingConn covers that side.

Accuracy evidence

Oura's lead goes beyond one study. A 2025 meta-analysis (Khan et al., six studies, 388 participants) found no statistically significant differences between Oura and polysomnography or actigraphy for total sleep time, sleep efficiency or time in each sleep stage. For the Ring 5 itself, DC Rainmaker found workout heart rate against a Polar H10 “largely pretty good” on rides and road runs but said it “basically falls apart” on a trail descent. Battery, sizing and safety

Battery. Oura claims 6-9 days per charge for the Ring 5, “depending on ring size and usage,” and DC Rainmaker got 6-7 days. Ultrahuman claims up to 15 days and up to 45 with the included PRO Charging Case; the5krunner reported the 15 days applies in Chill Mode, with around 12 in Turbo Mode. Ultrahuman's Ring PRO page also claims up to 250 days of on-ring data storage, so by Ultrahuman's figure the ring can hold a long stretch of data between syncs. These are maker claims, and until the Ring PRO reaches reviewers in volume we have no real-world figure to set against them. Sizing. The Ring 5 comes in whole sizes 6-13, and Oura says its sizes differ from standard ring sizes and even between Oura generations. The Ring PRO comes in sizes 5-14 with no half sizes, and Ultrahuman sends a free sizing kit you don't have to return. Ultrahuman's ring FAQ (written for the Ring AIR) says its sizing “differs from other smart rings,” and nothing we found says the Ring PRO matches Oura, so treat an Ultrahuman size and an Oura size as unrelated. If you're a 5 or a 14, only the Ring PRO fits of these two. Use each brand's own kit, and see how sizing compares across brands.

Safety. Ultrahuman builds in a feature for a bad day: “ProRelease Technology,” which it says lets the Ring PRO “be cut apart more easily in the event of swelling or injury to the finger.” Oura's safety page tells you to stop trying to remove a ring and seek medical attention if your finger is very painful, swollen or discolored. Phones, warranty and optional extras

Oura lists the Ring 5 as available on iOS and Android. Ultrahuman doesn't state the Ring PRO's phone requirements on its buy page, product page or US FAQ; we know only that it uses Bluetooth LE 5.3. The Ring AIR's published requirements belong to a different model, so we don't assume they carry over. If your phone is a few years old, ask Ultrahuman before you pre-order.

Both warranties are one year. Oura's US warranty excludes batteries as consumable parts. Ultrahuman's US terms of sale give a 12-month limited warranty for “any new Ultrahuman Ring,” without naming the Ring PRO, and its optional UltrahumanX plan covers accidental damage and one Ring PRO replacement. On features, Oura puts its insights behind the membership, while Ultrahuman includes your core data and sells a handful of extras as optional PowerPlugs.
