Privacy policy

Effective Sep 19, 2026. The short version: we use Google Analytics to see which pages are read and which links are clicked, we receive what you type into the contact form, and that's it. We never see data from your ring, we have no accounts, and we don't sell personal information.

What we collect

• Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used. It collects standard usage data such as the pages you visit, approximate location (derived from your IP address), device and browser type, and the site that referred you. We also record a few named events: when a product link is clicked (an affiliate_click event, noting which product, which page and where on the page), when an email link or a call-to-action button is clicked, and when the contact form is sent successfully. We use this in aggregate to improve the site; we don't use it to identify you.
• Contact-form messages. If you send a message, we receive your name, email address, the topic you chose and your message.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard request logs (such as IP address, browser user agent and the page requested) for security and reliability.

We never see your ring data. Ring & Rest has no app, no account system and no connection to any ring maker's app or cloud. Your sleep, heart rate and other readings stay between you and the brand whose ring you use, under that brand's privacy policy.

How contact-form messages are handled

When you press “Send message,” the site sends your message as an email, using Microsoft 365 through the Microsoft Graph service, to the site owner's inbox. The reply-to address on that email is the one you entered, so we can answer you directly. We use your message only to reply and, if you reported an error, to fix the page. We don't add you to a mailing list, and we don't sell or share your details with ring brands or retailers. The form includes basic spam protection (a hidden field, a timing check and a limit on submissions per IP address); the IP address used for that limit is held briefly in server memory and not stored.

Cookies and affiliate links

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies to tell visits apart. Our own /go/ redirect doesn't set any cookie. When you click a “Check price on Amazon” button, you leave our site for Amazon, which may set its own cookies to credit a purchase to our Amazon Associates account. Those cookies, and anything you do on Amazon, are covered by Amazon's privacy notice, not this policy. The same applies to any brand store we link to. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; this site works without them.

What we don't run

We don't offer accounts, logins, comments, newsletters or paid products, so we don't collect passwords or payment details. We don't run advertising networks or retargeting pixels.

Who else handles data

A small number of service providers help run the site and process data only as needed to provide their service: our web host, Vercel (serving pages and request logs); Google (analytics); and Microsoft (delivering contact-form email). We don't sell or rent personal information to anyone, and we don't share it with ring brands or retailers. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Children

This site is written for adults shopping for smart rings. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Your choices

• You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on, a content blocker, or by blocking cookies.
• To ask what we hold from a contact-form message, or to have it deleted, email mike@blackironathletics.com.
• Depending on the US state you live in, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, such as the right to know, correct or delete personal information. We'll honor valid requests sent to the email above.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top of the page. See also our terms of service and affiliate disclosure.
