Ultrahuman subscription cost: no required fee, a few paid extras

Does Ultrahuman have a subscription? Not a required one

Ultrahuman's US buy page for the Ring PRO says: “Rest assured, there are no recurring subscription fees for accessing your data,” and calls the ring “a simple, one-time purchase” ( Ultrahuman US, checked September 19, 2026). Its March 2026 press release, announcing the Ring PRO's return to the US, put it more bluntly: “No mandatory subscription. No paywall. No compromise” ( Ultrahuman press release).

So the answer to “is Ultrahuman subscription based?” is no, with an asterisk. Your core data is free. A few named features are paid add-ons, and there's an optional protection plan. That puts Ultrahuman in the middle group of the three kinds of “no subscription” we describe in do smart rings require a subscription: no fee, but optional extras. It's a very different deal from Oura's, which charges $5.99 a month for most of what its ring measures.

What the optional extras cost

Ultrahuman lists three paid options on its US buy page. Two are PowerPlugs, its name for add-on features. The third is UltrahumanX, a protection plan.

Three things in that table deserve a flag:

• The two Cycle & Ovulation Pro prices don't match. The buy page says $39/year; the HSA/FSA page lists $39.99. Small, but it means you should read the price at checkout, not here.
• There may be a free first year. In May 2026, the5krunner reported that PowerPlugs were free for the first 12 months, with later pricing undisclosed at the time (the5krunner). The buy page we checked shows annual prices without repeating that offer, so confirm it before you count on it.
• None of it is needed for your core data. PowerPlugs add named features on top; skipping them doesn't lock anything you already get with the ring.

How does UltrahumanX compare with the standard warranty? Ultrahuman's US Terms of Sale give “any new Ultrahuman Ring” a 12-month limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship (Ultrahuman Terms of Sale); the Ring PRO isn't named explicitly. The math: optional fees against a required one

Our fee tables count only required fees, because those are the ones you can't avoid. On that measure the Ring PRO adds $0. Here it is next to Oura Ring 5 and RingConn Gen 3; ring prices change, so the last column links to the live price or, for Ultrahuman, notes that it's sold only from the brand's store.

The difference that matters isn't the size of the numbers; it's who decides. With Ultrahuman you choose which extras, if any, are worth it. With Oura, the fee is the price of seeing your data. Every brand's fees sit side by side in what a smart ring really costs.

What you get without paying more

Everything below comes with the ring, per Ultrahuman's US pages:

• Your core data, with no recurring fee.
• Battery: up to 15 days per charge and up to 45 days with the PRO Charging Case, which is included. Those are Ultrahuman's claims; the5krunner reported the 15-day figure applies in Chill Mode, with around twelve days in Turbo Mode. Our battery life guide compares every ring's claim.
• Sizing: sizes 5 to 14 with a free sizing kit (“Yours to keep and share”).
• Build: titanium unibody rated to 100 meters, with “ProRelease Technology” that lets the ring be cut apart more easily if a finger swells (Ultrahuman FAQ).
• HSA/FSA: Ultrahuman says its products are “HSA/FSA eligible with Flex” (Ultrahuman HSA/FSA). Flex uses a telehealth consult and may require a Letter of Medical Necessity; see our HSA/FSA guide.

One thing we couldn't find: the Ring PRO's phone requirements. They aren't stated on Ultrahuman's US buy page, product page or FAQ (the FAQ lists Bluetooth LE 5.3). Data unavailable, so confirm your phone with Ultrahuman before you order.

The real catch: getting one

Ultrahuman's fee policy is simple. Buying the ring in the US isn't. When we checked, the Ring PRO was a pre-order on Ultrahuman's US store, “shipping October 10th onwards,” and it wasn't sold on Amazon.com; the only Ring PRO item we found there was the sizing kit. The ship date has moved more than once:

• Athletech reported US shipping “set to begin May 15” when pre-orders reopened in March 2026 (Athletech News).
• TechTimes reported the ring “began shipping worldwide on June 20, 2026” (TechTimes).
• Yahoo Tech reported in July that shipments were pushed to “August 10 onwards” (Yahoo Tech).
• Ultrahuman's US page said “October 10th onwards” on September 19, 2026.

The legal background explains why. The ITC's August 21, 2025 exclusion order in investigation 337-TA-1398 took Ultrahuman's Ring AIR off the US market, and the Ring AIR still isn't sold here. In March 2026, US Customs ruling H354023 found the redesigned Ring PRO “is not subject to exclusion from entry,” with entry conditioned on a certification, and noted that ITC determinations can modify or revoke a contrary Customs ruling (CBP ruling H354023). Oura also filed a further patent suit against Ultrahuman in the Eastern District of Texas in 2025 (IP Fray). None of that stops you ordering today, but it's ownership risk that RingConn, which settled with Oura under a license in October 2025, doesn't carry. Buying from the brand's store also means the brand's return terms, not Amazon's. Ultrahuman's Terms of Sale name 30-day returns for the Ring AIR and Rare, but we couldn't find a return window stated for the Ring PRO. Ask before you pay.

What the evidence says

The only accuracy data Ultrahuman publishes is an in-house pilot on the older Ring AIR: 6 volunteers and 36 sleeps, compared with the SleepImage ring and an Apple Watch, written entirely by Ultrahuman staff and not peer-reviewed (Ultrahuman). Before you pre-order

1. Size first, with Ultrahuman's kit. Ultrahuman says its sizing “differs from other smart rings,” so your Oura or RingConn size won't carry over. The kit is free on Ultrahuman's store, and it's also the one Ring PRO item on Amazon. Our smart ring sizing guide explains why.
2. Confirm your phone. Ring PRO phone requirements weren't published where we looked.
3. Decide on the extras at checkout, not later. Check whether PowerPlugs come with a free first year and which price Cycle & Ovulation Pro shows.
4. Ask about returns. The Ring PRO's return window wasn't stated in the Terms of Sale.
5. Be ready to wait. The US ship date has moved from May to October.

If waiting isn't an option, RingConn Gen 3 is the closest no-fee alternative you can buy now: no subscription at all, up to 14 days per charge with a charging case, sizes 6 to 15, and listed on Amazon.
