What Oura's membership costs

Oura charges $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year for its membership in the US. That's straight from Oura's support page (Oura Membership), checked September 19, 2026, and DC Rainmaker's July 2026 Ring 5 review confirms the same monthly rate. New members get their first month included with the ring. So when people search “Oura ring cost per month,” the answer is $5.99 for the membership, every month after the first, for as long as you want the full app.

Here's what each plan adds up to. Every figure is computed from those two published rates.

The fee is the same whichever Oura you buy. Ring 5 and Ring 4 share one membership, so a discounted Ring 4 lowers the ring price but not the running cost. If you're choosing between the two, our Oura Ring 4 vs 5 comparison covers what else differs.

Monthly or annual?

The annual plan is cheaper if you'll keep paying for a full year: twelve monthly payments come to $71.88, against $69.99 for the year up front. The gap is small, less than two dollars a year. What monthly buys you is the option to stop. If you're not sure you'll still care about your readiness score in six months, that option is worth more than the savings.

What the membership pays for

Oura's store describes the membership in one line: it “unlocks personalized insights, an AI health companion, and new features as they arrive” ( Oura store). The Ring 5 product page lists what that means in practice: heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen, temperature trends, Symptom Radar, Cardiovascular Age, Blood Pressure Signals and Cycle Insights (Oura Ring 5). Since the free tier shows only the three daily scores and a few basics, most of that list is what your fee pays for.

A few of those features, in Oura's own words:

• Symptom Radar: “Oura scans for signs of strain in your biometrics and can provide early alerts, sometimes before symptoms of a cold or flu are even felt.”
• Cardiovascular Age: shows “how your cardiovascular system is aging relative to your chronological age.”
• Blood Pressure Signals: “Know how your blood pressure patterns evolve over time, with Nighttime BP examining your overnight dips for long-term trends.”
• Cycle Insights: uses temperature trends for menstrual cycle insights.

What you keep without it

Stop paying, or never start, and Oura says you'll “only be able to see your three daily Oura scores (Readiness, Activity, and Sleep), ring battery, basic profile information, app settings, and the Explore content.” That's the entire free tier. You get the headline number for sleep, not the detail behind it. Is there a lifetime Oura membership?

Not for anyone buying today. Oura's support page says there “currently is no option to purchase or upgrade to a Lifetime Membership.” Two groups sit outside the fee:

• Some early Gen3 buyers kept grandfathered lifetime plans. That isn't something you can buy now.
• Gen2 owners “do not require an Oura Membership,” per the same page.

If you're buying new, from Oura, Amazon or anywhere else, plan on the regular rate. The ring's value to you depends on how many years of fees you're willing to pay, which is the question our is the Oura Ring worth it page takes on directly.

Paying for the membership with HSA or FSA money

This is the one real discount on the fee. Oura's support page says most items on its online store, including taxes and shipping, can be bought with HSA or FSA funds, and that a prepaid membership can be paid with HSA or FSA funds when it's bought together with a new ring (Oura Support). Oura's blog states that “Oura Ring and Membership are covered and reimbursable via Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA)” ( Oura blog).

Two cautions before you count on it:

• The IRS rule is narrower than the badge. Medical expenses “don't include expenses that are merely beneficial to general health” ( IRS).
• Some plans want a letter. Flex, the checkout partner several ring brands use, says that “generally, you do not need a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) for an Oura Ring; however, some plans may require you to get one” (Flex).

Check with your plan administrator before you buy. Pre-tax money lowers what the fee costs you, but it doesn't change the fee. Every brand's HSA/FSA terms are in our smart ring HSA/FSA guide.

The ring plus the membership

The number that matters is the ring price plus the fees for the years you'll wear it. We don't print ring prices, because they change daily, so the last column links to the live price. Add it to the fee column and you have your total.

Two optional costs sit on top. Oura sells protection plans at $45 for two years or $60 for three (Oura store); the standard warranty is one year from purchase, with batteries excluded as consumable parts (Oura warranty FAQ). And Oura rings don't include a charging case, which some rivals do. Neither is required, but if you want either, add it. What to weigh before you pay

The fee is easy to calculate. Whether it's worth it depends on three things we can't decide for you:

1. How long you'll wear it. A ring in a drawer after six months cost you six months of fees. A ring worn for five years cost you $349.95 on the annual plan.
2. Whether you'll use the insights behind the scores. If a nightly sleep score is all you look at, the free tier or a no-fee ring covers it.
3. How much the evidence gap matters to you. Oura's Gen 3 and Gen 4 rings have the strongest independent validation of any ring we found, including a peer-reviewed study against a Polar H10 chest strap (Dial et al., 2025; 13 adults, nighttime resting values only).
