RingConn warranty: what one year actually covers

A no-subscription ring is a one-time purchase, which makes the warranty the only ongoing promise the brand makes you. RingConn publishes its terms in full, so this page quotes them rather than paraphrasing - including the two clauses most buyers find out about later: the battery exclusion and the 14-day return window.

The published terms

Here is the whole thing in order, quoted from RingConn's policy page rather than summarized, because warranty copy is where paraphrasing does real damage:

  • Length. One year for non-EEA countries - which includes the United States - and two years for EEA countries, “from the delivery date”. Not from the order date, and not from the day you first wore it.
  • What RingConn does. It “will repair, replace or refund if the damage is caused by a defect in our workmanship”. The choice between those three is RingConn's, not yours.
  • Who can claim. “The warranty applies to original owners and is transferable to further owners” - unusually generous wording, and worth knowing if you buy a ring secondhand or hand yours on.
  • What you need. “Claims under this warranty must be made directly to RingConn, and proof of purchase is required.”

For a brand whose entire pitch is that you pay once and never again - the position we examine on do smart rings require a subscription - a one-year term is standard rather than impressive. It is the same length Oura offers in the US, and the transferability clause is better than most.

The battery exclusion

This is the clause that generates the complaints, and it compounds with a design fact. RingConn's own battery guide says that “in most cases, a smart ring battery is not user-replaceable” because the battery, sensors, antenna and electronics are “tightly integrated inside a sealed enclosure”, and that “routine battery replacement and normal capacity loss are not included in RingConn's standard warranty” ( RingConn).

Put those together: the component with a guaranteed finite life cannot be swapped by you, cannot be swapped by a repair shop without breaking the seal, and is not covered when it wears out. That is not unique to RingConn - Oura excludes “consumable parts, including batteries” in the same way (Oura) - but it does mean the honest way to budget for any smart ring is as a device with a lifespan, not a permanent purchase. We work through what that lifespan looks like on how long a smart ring battery lasts.

There is a real distinction worth holding on to here. Gradual capacity loss is excluded as normal wear. A ring that drops from ten days to two inside the first year is a different claim - that looks like a defect, and defects are what the warranty is for. If your RingConn is draining fast, work through the causes RingConn itself names before you write to support: we list them on RingConn battery drain.

Everything else that is excluded

RingConn lists the exclusions plainly. The warranty does not cover:

  • “An improper or negligent use, operation, or transformation”
  • “Maintenance contrary to the maintenance instructions”
  • “Normal wear and tear” - scratches on the titanium shell, in practice
  • “Damages or defects due to accidents”
  • Battery replacement and normal capacity decline, per the clause above

The accident exclusion is the one to read twice. A ring is worn on the most exposed part of your body, and a ring crushed between a barbell and a rack is an accident, not a defect. That is the gap the paid plan exists to fill, and it is also why we tell weightlifters to use a cover rather than to rely on the warranty - best smart ring for weightlifting has the detail.

How to claim

For a quality problem inside the warranty period, RingConn's support FAQ directs you to submit the product details, serial number and proof of purchase to its customer-service address, and to use the Seel Resolve Center instead for accidental damage or anything outside the warranty period (RingConn Support). Two practical notes from reading the terms:

  • Keep the order confirmation. Proof of purchase is not optional, and the clock runs from the delivery date, so the record that proves when the ring arrived is the one that matters.
  • Describe the symptom, not the diagnosis. “Charges to 100% and falls to 20% in 36 hours, from new in March” is a workmanship claim. “The battery is worn out” is a sentence that invites the consumables clause.

Is there a warranty registration?

We looked for one, because “RingConn warranty registration” is a common search, and we could not find a registration step anywhere in RingConn's published policy or support FAQs. The terms key the warranty to the delivery date and to proof of purchase, not to an account action. If a page or email asks you to register a RingConn warranty, treat it with suspicion and check the address it came from.

The 14-day return window

The warranty is not the same thing as the return policy, and RingConn's return terms are stricter than most buyers expect. Returns to RingConn.com are accepted “within 14 calendar days if you have a valid reason for returning the product”, the examples given being a defective or damaged delivery, the wrong color, or a product that “significantly differs from description”. The returned ring must be “in its original condition as received and has not been opened and used”, and “you are responsible for all costs associated with returning the product to us” ( RingConn).

Read that literally and there is no change-of-mind trial on a ring you have worn. That raises the stakes on sizing, because the same policy states that “sizing kits are considered consumables and, as such, they are non-refundable and non-returnable”. RingConn includes a complimentary kit and ships the ring only after you confirm your size, which is the right order of operations - use it, and read our sizing guide before you confirm anything.

The paid protection plan

RingConn sells an optional Product Protection Plan, and its cover is genuinely broader than the standard warranty rather than just longer. Per RingConn's support FAQ, it runs “2 years (730 calendar days)” or “3 years (1,095 calendar days) from the date of purchase” depending on the tier, and covers “accidental damage, defects in materials or workmanship, and normal wear and tear” - the last two of which the free warranty either limits or excludes outright. Theft and loss are not covered, and charging cases, docks and cables are outside it (RingConn Support).

Two conditions decide whether it is available to you at all. The plan “must be purchased together with a brand-new product directly from www.ringconn.com” at checkout - so it is not something you can add next month, and not something you can bolt onto a ring bought anywhere else. And it is refundable in full “within 60 days of purchase if no claims have been filed”, pro-rata after that, which makes it low-risk to take and then drop if you change your mind early.

Buying on Amazon vs RingConn.com

This is where the warranty question turns into a buying decision. RingConn's warranty terms do not restrict cover to its own store: they require claims to come to RingConn with proof of purchase, and they transfer with the ring. That is a friendlier position than Oura's, where cover is tied to the Oura store or an authorized retailer and returns from a retailer “must be handled directly with the retailer” ( Oura Member Care).

But the paid plan is store-exclusive, and that is the trade. Buy on Amazon and you get Amazon's returns process instead of a 14-day unopened-only window, which for most people is the better consumer protection - and you give up the option of the 2- or 3-year accidental-damage plan entirely. Buy from RingConn and you can add the plan, and you accept a narrow return window. We lay out the rest of the channel differences on where to buy a smart ring.

How it compares with Oura and Ultrahuman

  • Oura: one year on new products, 90 days on certified refurbished, with “consumable parts, including batteries” and normal wear excluded, and cover limited to the Oura store or authorized retailers (Oura). Same length, tighter on where you bought it.
  • Ultrahuman: a 12-month limited warranty under its US terms of sale (Ultrahuman).
  • RingConn: one year in the US, transferable, claims direct, with an optional paid plan that is the only accidental-damage cover any of the three offers on a ring.

The full cross-brand table, including returns and restocking, is on smart ring warranty and returns.

What we would do

Nothing about RingConn's warranty should put you off the rings - it matches what Oura and Ultrahuman offer, and the transferable, buy-anywhere wording is better than either. What it should change is how you buy. If you want cover for the two things that actually kill rings - an accident and a worn-out sealed battery - the paid plan at RingConn checkout is the only product on the table, and it has to be bought at the same moment as the ring. If you would rather have a generous returns process than long cover, buy the ring on Amazon and accept that the plan is off the menu.

Either way, budget for a ring with a finite life. That framing drives our whole cost position on are smart rings worth it.

How we scored this

How these picks were chosen

Every pick here is labeled Researched: chosen from each brand's fee policy, spec sheet, sizing and warranty pages, and the published studies that measured the ring (or its predecessor) against a chest strap, an ECG or a sleep lab, then scored on a public rubric. Every figure links to where it came from, and maker performance numbers are labeled “maker's claim,” so you can see exactly what you're paying for before you buy.

Scores are editorial judgments built from that documented research. Commissions never set a score or decide a pick. The rubric and its weights are published.

Questions

Frequently asked

How long is the RingConn warranty?
One year for non-EEA countries, including the United States, and two years for EEA countries, counted from the delivery date. RingConn states this on its refund-and-warranty policy page.
Does the RingConn warranty cover the battery?
No. RingConn states that rechargeable batteries are consumables whose capacity declines over time and that “battery replacement is not included in our standard warranty policy”. A sudden, early collapse in battery life is a different matter - that looks like a defect and is worth claiming.
Is the RingConn warranty valid if I bought the ring on Amazon?
RingConn's published terms require claims to be made directly to RingConn with proof of purchase and do not limit cover to its own store, so keep the Amazon order record. What you cannot do from Amazon is add the paid Product Protection Plan: RingConn states it must be bought at checkout together with a new product on ringconn.com.
Can I return a RingConn ring after wearing it?
Not under RingConn's own return policy. It accepts returns within 14 calendar days with a valid reason, and only if the product “has not been opened and used”, with the buyer paying return shipping. Sizing kits are non-returnable, so get the size right first.
Do I need to register my RingConn for warranty?
We found no registration step in RingConn's published policy or support FAQs. Cover runs from the delivery date and is claimed with proof of purchase, so the order confirmation is what you need to keep.
Is the RingConn protection plan worth it?
It is the only accidental-damage cover offered on any ring we track, it extends to two or three years, and it uniquely covers normal wear and tear. It is also only available at checkout on RingConn's own store, and it is refundable in full within 60 days if you file no claims - which makes it easy to take and reconsider.
