Smart ring chargers and charging cases: which rings include one

What to know first

People searching for a “smart ring charger” usually want one of two things: a charging case that tops the ring up away from a wall outlet, or a replacement for a charger they lost. This page is mostly about the first, because that's where the rings really differ.

A charging case holds its own battery. You drop the ring in, it recharges, and the case goes weeks or months before it needs a wall itself. That changes how you live with a ring more than a few extra days of per-charge battery does. It's the difference between a weekly chore and something you do before a trip.

Here's the part most “best charger” lists skip: four rings already ship with a case.

• RingConn Gen 2 “Extended Up to 150 Days With Charging Case” (RingConn).
• RingConn Gen 3 with its “Universal Charging Case”: “150+ Days Total with Charging Case” (RingConn).
• Ultrahuman Ring PRO with the PRO Charging Case: up to 45 days (Ultrahuman).
• Samsung Galaxy Ring: up to 14 days with a full charging-case charge (Samsung).

If you own one of those, you don't need to buy a case. The rings that don't include one are Oura Ring 5 and Ring 4 (Oura lists no case), RingConn Gen 2 Air (RingConn lists none) and Circular Ring 2 (Circular doesn't state one). For those owners, a third-party case is the only way to charge away from an outlet.

Every figure below is the maker's claim, linked to its source. We've included Oura Ring 5 and RingConn Gen 2 Air for contrast, since neither comes with a case.

How we ranked them

We ranked on what matters to someone who wants to charge as rarely as possible and never pay a fee, in this order:

1. Total days away from an outlet the maker claims with the included case.
2. Whether the case is in the box or an extra purchase from a third party.
3. Whether a US buyer can get it now, and from where (Amazon or the brand's own store).
4. The ring itself, using its overall score on our published ring rubric, which weighs three-year cost, accuracy evidence, battery, sizing, data ownership and phone support.

We haven't tested any of these cases or run the rings down ourselves. Every day count here is the maker's claim, and we say so each time. Where a reviewer published what they actually got from the ring, we note it.

The picks in context

1. RingConn Gen 2: best charging case overall

The Gen 2's case is the reason it tops this list. RingConn claims 10-12 days per ring charge, “Extended Up to 150 Days With Charging Case,” and the case is included. That's months between wall outlets on paper, for a ring with no subscription that works on iPhone (iOS 17+) and Android (10+).

On case claims alone, Gen 3's “150+” edges Gen 2's “up to 150.” We still rank Gen 2 first, for three reasons. The case figures are close enough to call a tie. Gen 2 is the highest-scoring ring on our rubric (8.2 to Gen 3's 8.1), partly because it has a chest-strap comparison of its own: a 2026 preprint, not yet peer-reviewed, that found a small heart rate bias against a Polar H10 in seated athletes (Tao et al.). And Gen 3 showed “Out of stock” on RingConn's own store when we checked.

The weaknesses are worth knowing. The 150 days is RingConn's claim, and we found no reviewer who measured it. RingConn's standard warranty excludes normal battery capacity loss, though its optional US protection covers the battery as part of the device. And a reviewer at Gadgets & Wearables found the Gen 2 read heart rate high on runs compared with a chest strap. Our full RingConn Gen 2 review covers all of it.

2. RingConn Gen 3: the longest case claim

RingConn's newest ring pairs the longest single-charge claim on Amazon (up to 14 days, 11-14 on its features page) with a “Universal Charging Case” rated at “150+ Days Total.” If you want the newest hardware and the widest size range here (6-15), it's the one.

Two cautions. The Gadgeteer's reviewer got about 10 days per charge with vibration alerts on, so budget for the low end (The Gadgeteer). And we found no published validation study of Gen 3 itself. 3. Ultrahuman Ring PRO: longest single charge, shorter case

Ultrahuman claims the most per charge of any ring we cover, up to 15 days, and up to 45 days with the included PRO Charging Case. The box lists the ring, a “Ring PRO Charger” and a USB-C to USB-C cable. The charger does more than charge: Ultrahuman's Ring PRO page mentions “up to 250 days of on-ring storage and up to a year of on-PRO Charger storage” for your data (Ultrahuman).

It ranks third because 45 days total is well short of RingConn's 150, and because of how you buy it. It's a US pre-order from Ultrahuman's own store (“ships October 10th onwards” when we checked, after earlier dates slipped), it isn't sold on Amazon.com, and Ultrahuman doesn't publish its phone requirements on the pages we checked. 4. Samsung Galaxy Ring: a case in the box, for Samsung phones

Samsung includes a case and rates the ring at up to 14 days total with it. The ring alone is rated at up to 7 days for sizes 12 and 13 and up to 6 for smaller sizes, and GSMArena got about 5 days from a size 11. So the case roughly doubles a short-running ring rather than turning it into a months-long one.

It's a fine choice if you carry a Samsung Galaxy phone: no subscription, titanium, and a case you don't have to buy. For everyone else it slides down. It doesn't work with iPhone, and Find My Ring and Double Pinch don't work on other Android brands. See our Samsung Galaxy Ring review.

5. Third-party charging cases for Oura owners

Oura doesn't include a charging case with Ring 5 or Ring 4, which is the one gap it leaves against rivals that ship one. Amazon search results show plenty of third-party portable cases labeled Oura-compatible (Amazon search). We haven't verified any individual listing, so this is a category pick, not a product we vouch for.

Read the listing carefully. Several of these cases say the official Oura charger is not included, which means you put Oura's own charger inside the case. Several are size-specific. And generations matter: Oura says Ring 5's “redesigned interior fits differently than Oura Ring 4” ( Oura), so check that a case names your exact generation rather than assuming a Ring 4 case suits a Ring 5. Compatibility is the seller's claim, not Oura's.

One more piece of Oura math. A case solves the charging gap. It doesn't touch the membership, which is $69.99 a year on the annual plan, or $209.97 over three years. How far each case gets you on a trip

Here's how the claims play out on common trips, using the makers' numbers and our arithmetic. The reviewer results we cite came in at the low end of each claim or under it, so shave a little off each.

• A long weekend: any ring here, case or not. Even Oura Ring 4's “typically 5-8 days” covers it.
• One week: every ring with a case covers it. Oura Ring 5 (6-9 days) may need its charger on the last day, especially in smaller sizes, since Oura ties its claim to ring size.
• Two weeks: Samsung's up-to-14-day claim with the case only just reaches it, and GSMArena's 5 days on a size 11 says don't count on it. Ultrahuman's 45-day case and both RingConn cases cover it with room to spare. RingConn Gen 2 Air (up to 10 days) and both Oura rings need a charger and an outlet.
• A month or more: only the RingConn cases (up to 150 and 150+ days) and Ultrahuman's (45) claim to cover it with no wall outlet at all.

Rings without a case: when it matters

No case isn't a deal-breaker for everyone. If you're rarely away from an outlet for more than a week, a ring that lasts a week is fine. Here's what the no-case rings claim per charge:

• Oura Ring 5: up to 6-9 days, “depending on ring size and usage.” DC Rainmaker reported 6-7.
• Oura Ring 4: typically 5-8 days.
• RingConn Gen 2 Air: up to 10 days, with 90-minute fast charging (RingConn). The fast charge is its answer to having no case.
• Circular Ring 2: 8 days in power mode, 5 in performance mode. Circular doesn't state a case.

If you just need a replacement charger

If you've lost or broken the charger that came with your ring, start with the maker's own store or support team. We haven't verified individual third-party chargers and don't recommend any by name. Don't assume a charger made for one model fits another: check that it names your exact ring and generation.

There's a good reason to stay with the maker's own charger where you can. The ring's battery is sealed and can't be replaced, so it isn't worth gambling on an accessory nobody has vouched for. What to check before you buy a charging case

1. Whether your ring already has one. RingConn Gen 2 and Gen 3, Ultrahuman Ring PRO and Galaxy Ring include theirs. Buying another is money for nothing.
2. Your exact model and generation. Third-party cases are built around one ring. Oura says Ring 5 fits differently than Ring 4, so a case for one is not proof it fits the other.
3. Your ring size. Several third-party listings are size-specific. If you're not sure of yours, our smart ring sizing guide explains how each brand sizes its rings.
4. Whether it needs the official charger inside. Many third-party Oura cases say the official charger is not included. That means your Oura charger lives in the case, and you'll want a plan for charging at home.
5. Who stands behind it. A third-party case's compatibility is the seller's claim. The ring maker doesn't vouch for it. Check the seller's return window before you buy.

Who should put a case first

A case in the box is worth weighting heavily if any of these sound like you:

• You travel for a week or more at a time. A case means one less cable and no hunting for an outlet. On RingConn's numbers, it means no charger at all for a month.
• You forget to charge things. A ring that dies overnight misses the night's sleep data, which is the main reason to wear one. A case you top up now and then is more forgiving than a weekly routine.
• You wear a small size. Samsung and Oura both tie battery life to ring size, and Samsung rates sizes below 12 at a day less. Smaller rings get the least per charge, so they gain the most from a case.

If none of those apply and you're home most nights, a ring without a case is fine. Pick on fee, phone support and evidence instead; the smart ring comparison chart puts all three next to each ring's case and battery claims.

Charging case mistakes

• Reading case days as ring days. “150 days” is the ring plus every top-up the case can give. The ring still needs a top-up every 10-12 days on RingConn's numbers.
• Forgetting the case needs charging too. Once the case is flat, you're back to a wall outlet. Top it up before a trip.
• Choosing a ring for the case alone. A case doesn't fix a ring that doesn't work with your phone or charges a fee. The Galaxy Ring's case is no use on an iPhone.
