RingConn vs Samsung Galaxy Ring: which no-fee ring fits your phone

The verdict

So is RingConn better than the Samsung ring? On our rubric, the Gen 3 scores 8.1, the Gen 2 8.2 and the Galaxy Ring 6.2. All three score full marks on cost, since none charges a fee. The Galaxy Ring loses points in three places in roughly equal measure: battery, evidence, and phone support, because it shuts out iPhone and holds features back on other Android brands. On a Samsung phone, though, those features are exactly what you're paying for, and the Galaxy Ring is a fair choice. Phones: the first filter

Start here, because it may end the comparison. Samsung says the Galaxy Ring is supported on Samsung Galaxy phones and other brands' Android phones running Android 11 or newer, and it doesn't work with iPhone (Samsung). On a non-Samsung Android phone it loses features: Samsung says Double Pinch and Find My Ring don't work there, and Energy Score insights need a “compatible Samsung Galaxy AI phone, Samsung Health app and Samsung account.” Android Police also listed Galaxy AI health recommendations among the features missing on other phones.

RingConn doesn't tie you to a phone brand. The Gadgeteer confirmed the Gen 3 app on iPhone and Android, and RingConn lists iOS 17.0+ and Android 10.0+ for the Gen 2. So, does RingConn work with Samsung phones? Yes, on any Samsung running Android 10 or newer (for Gen 2), and we found nothing in RingConn's materials that ties a feature to a phone brand. Put simply:

• iPhone: RingConn. The Galaxy Ring isn't an option. See the best smart ring for iPhone.
• Samsung Galaxy phone: either works. The Galaxy Ring gets its full feature set; RingConn gets its battery and size range.
• Other Android phone: RingConn, unless the Galaxy Ring's design or case wins you over despite the missing features. See the best smart ring for Android.

The decisive differences

The common ground: all three are titanium or titanium alloy, all three carry serious water ratings (RingConn IP68, plus 10ATM on Gen 3; Samsung 10ATM and IP68), all three come with a charging case and a free sizing kit, all three brands say the ring qualifies for HSA/FSA funds, and all three are listed on Amazon.com. The differences are the phone, the battery and the sizes.

Fees: none on either side

This is one comparison where the fee column is a tie at zero. RingConn's Gen 3 page says “No Subscription,” and The Gadgeteer's review found “no locked tier, no upsell screen anywhere in the app.” Samsung's Amazon listing title says “No App Subscription,” and its US product page lists no paid Samsung Health requirement. Samsung's only “fee” is a phone: some features need a Galaxy handset.

Battery and charging cases

This is RingConn's clearest win. RingConn claims up to 14 days per charge for Gen 3 (11-14 on its features page) and 10-12 for Gen 2; The Gadgeteer's reviewer got about 10 days from Gen 3 with vibration alerts on. Samsung claims up to 7 days for sizes 12 and 13 and up to 6 for smaller sizes, and GSMArena got about 5 days from a size 11.

All three include a charging case, but the reserves differ a lot. RingConn rates the Gen 3 at 150+ days in total with its case and the Gen 2 at up to 150. Samsung says a full charging-case charge brings the Galaxy Ring to up to 14 days in total. By the makers' numbers, a RingConn and its case can go months between outlets, while a Galaxy Ring and its case go about two weeks. On battery safety, Samsung blamed a crack in the ring's internal molding for one Galaxy Ring swelling case and said there was “no wider product battery safety risk” (via Android Police). RingConn says its batteries are sealed inside the ring and not designed for user replacement. Our battery swelling explainer covers what to do if a ring ever swells.

Sizing

The Galaxy Ring comes in US sizes 5-15, with 14 and 15 added in January 2025. Samsung says its sizes are “slightly different from that of regular rings,” and part of its US page still says the sample rings “come in 9 sizes, from 5 to 13,” so a size 14 or 15 buyer should confirm the kit includes those. RingConn Gen 3 comes in 10 sizes from 6 to 15, and RingConn says they “differ from other RingConn rings, standard rings and other smart ring brands,” so a Gen 2 size won't carry over to Gen 3. The Gen 2 runs 6-14.

So a size 5 points to Samsung; from 6 to 15, the Galaxy Ring and Gen 3 both fit. No brand publishes an equivalence chart, and a Samsung size is not a RingConn size. Accuracy evidence

Neither brand has much, but RingConn has more. The Galaxy Ring launched on July 10, 2024, and when we searched the research literature on September 19, 2026 we found no peer-reviewed validation of it.

Reviewers add context. Gadgets & Wearables found the Gen 2 “consistently reported higher values” than a chest strap on runs, while its resting heart rate correlated 98% with a WHOOP band. So neither ring is a training heart rate monitor; wear a chest strap for that. Features, warranty and where to buy

Health features. RingConn lists Vascular Health Insights (blood pressure trends, with optional manual cuff inputs), Sleep Apnea Pattern Insights, vibration alerts and cycle predictions for Gen 3, and says the ring is “not a medical device.” The Gen 2 advertises “90.7% Sleep Apnea Monitoring Accuracy,” which is RingConn's own claim. Samsung lists sleep tracking, heart rate, skin temperature changes and Energy Score. It has also announced, as reported by Android Authority and Gizmodo, an FDA-cleared sleep apnea risk feature for the Galaxy Ring this fall; it wasn't on Samsung's US ring page when we checked, so treat it as coming, not live. Warranty. RingConn gives one year outside the EEA and excludes normal battery capacity loss, but sells optional two- and three-year Product Protection in the US that treats the battery as part of the device. The Galaxy Ring's Amazon listing says “1Yr Manufacturer Warranty” for the US version, and we didn't find a Samsung battery replacement policy for the ring.

Where to buy. All three are listed on Amazon.com. The Gen 3 showed “Out of stock” on RingConn's own store when we checked. RingConn sells in the US under a patent license from Oura, signed in October 2025. Samsung is a respondent in a separate Oura patent action at the International Trade Commission, but we found no exclusion order against the Galaxy Ring, and it's on sale as normal.
